Pure White...

Laundering pet beds this morning...
I found TWO whiskers!
Pure white~

Hanging the beds on the line...
I found a feather!
Pure white~

Walking my pup...
I found a partial songbird egg!
Pure white~

I do not miss the "pure white" snow~
Hope your day is kissed with the beauty of Spring!

Needle Felted Mice...

There's a mouse in our house!
NO, WAIT! There are TEN mice in our house!!!

(There could be more... that actually have heartbeats...)
We won't go there.

My little gathering of friends~
I felted them in ten different colors; no twins in this collection!
I'm picking out eyes (aka antique shoe/boot buttons)...
Pretty sure they're going to have whiskers, too!
They must decide if they would like pale pink noses,
deep rose noses... black noses. Decisions, decisions.
Some have hinted that they would like Spring jackets~

I need ten names!

I hope you're having a creative day, too~
Thank you for sharing in my fun!

Needle felted whiskers n' wool...

On Friday, I was able to put the finishing touches two
art deadlines so I spent the weekend playing!!!

Wonder what their conversations were as they waited
for their pretty colors...

My little sketches brought to 3-D...

This sweet little girl is a Valentine for a very dear friend!
All dressed in a little yellow raincoat~
Ready for her journey west!

Fox friend...
Found the perfect color roving!

Petite little me...

Sweet and simple elephant~

Bunny with the long ears...
Long white kitty whiskers to match!
Found another whisker just this morning when I was
gathering laundry~ was stuck in one of Sadie's favorite blankets.

Nose to nose... the little salmon bunny said,
"Thank you for stopping by, Sweet Friends!"

Old linens bring a new treasure...

Good morning, sweet friends!
Yes... that is another picture of my
growing whisker collection!
(giggle)
Sweet 16 didn't have school yesterday because
they didn't use all of their allotted snowdays
this past winter. Grumpy that they had to go to school
with winter winds whipping... but thrilled to have a
warm sunny day away from the classroom!

The two of us set off to find more sugar/flour sacks.
I'm never let down...
We were not able to find the cotton treasures~
But this little sweetie was a find!
It is the same style as my strawberry piece.
I soaked it... rolled it in a cotton towel... pressed it!
Please click on the photo for an even closer peek~
I don't know anything about this style of stitching...
The thread is fine and shimmery.
I LOVE looking at the beautiful stitch work
so many of you do...
Amazing!

We found oodles and oodles of old linens for
new pen and ink illustrations!
I soaked them for a few hours...
I don't mind that 90% of the stains are set.
Each linen piece is a treasure in its own.
I finished pressing them at midnight...
When I put my head on my pillow~
So many beautiful patterns get
SO MANY fun ideas floating around my brain!

There is something about being surrounded by
old things. Walking through booth after booth of
worn surfaces...
Who used these treasures?
I'm thrilled that they're available to us...
But wouldn't it be sweet to give a young child
an old handkerchief that her great-great grandma
stitched forget-me-nots on?
The perfect summer blanket for her little doll...

I'm excited to have time to catch up on special orders
over the next few days...
Excited that I will have new treasures to list, too!

Each piece so very different~
I see many of my favorite subjects on them...
...I see loads of new themes, too!
Nautical... sea shore... shore birds...
Flowers...
Garden tools...

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Pickin' Out Whiskers...

This is Little Lewie!
A new needle felted friend...

We just finished picking out the perfect
kitty whiskers to make him complete!

He'll be in my Etsy shop later today...

My whisker collection is growing faster than
I'm making mice and bunnies!

Remember! No kitty, dog or other whiskered
snouts were touched or injured during the
gathering of whiskers!
They are collected by luck from their beds...
Swept up in their mounds of hair...
Shared from MANY homes!

Hope your day is wonderful!

You Know What This Means...

Tucked in one of my Christmas bags...
...in my mother-in-law's handwriting!

More kitty whiskers!

You know what this means?

Mounds of felted critters with real whiskers!

Look at the two wee black ones...
There's a momma & baby in the making~

She's such a dear for saving them!

We've been kitty-sitting for a friend...
THREE WEEKS worth of collecting whiskers
from her forest green kitchen floor mats!
They've shared 3 so far!!

Happy New Year friends!

I know you're true friends if after reading a
3rd blog about whiskers you keep coming back!
:D

Needle Felting 2...

More photographs from Saturday night's fun!

Mouse.

Our camera is being a tad grumpy~
Sorry about the fuzzy pix...

Mouse looks like he's begging for
food...or a friend!

Snugly warm...

Wee little bird...

In flight!
Looks sweet from this perspective...

Part skunk...part bird...sea turtle wings!
It was my first try!
:)
Gotta giggle...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have something to
do after work...sitting watching TV~
Just be VERY careful when you look away...
Needles are VERY sharp.

Hope you have a wonderful week...
More to come & I'll let'cha know
when they are listed for sale...just in case!

Hope you have a fantastic week~
Michelle

Remember the Whiskers?

I'm sure more than a few of you thought I was
a touch loopy with my whisker collection.

But I ask you...

Would this new lil' guy be so cute without them?
"Crinkle"
His tail was caught by a farmer's shoe...
In his attempt to escape~
His tail became stretched out,
far longer than a mouse tail can go!
The wee mouse got away,
stopped to catch his breath~

Checking himself all over...
he looked at his tail & it was all crinkled up!

:)
Crinkle was made from an old gray sweater
and two small pieces of gray felt.

Keep lookin' for whiskers~
I know you'll have a use for them someday!

Whiskers Saved...

I save whiskers.
Sounds like I'm admitting to a horrible addiction!

This little green glass has sat in our
tea cupboard for over 17 years~
Holding precious crafting supplies.

Before I vacuum I comb over the carpets,
kitty beds, perches, favorite "spots"
and gather whiskers
THAT HAVE FALLEN OUT~
No kitty snouts are injured! :0) Teehee

We have whiskers from 6 different cats...
Some black...mostly white!
And one generous black lab...see the big black ones!
Plus my in-laws have saved for me
from their kitty paws~

I made this mouse-friend from Sculpy clay
years ago...the whiskers wait for the
next little critters to be made~

So many ideas...too little time!
