I love you to the moon and back~

copyright 2016 Michelle L. Palmer

From one of my early watercolor paintings!
I have wonderful memories of walking in the dew covered grass
with my dad, starlight nights~ brilliant moon lighting our way.
My dad whistled all the time~

My dad passed from cancer when I was in 7th grade~
Only wonderful memories of him fill my heart.

I spent endless hours meandering through pastures, streams,
ponds, abandoned farmhouses... swamps and woods~
My favorite pastime.
When a bird came near I would talk to my dad.
Chickadees and Cardinals would wake me in the morning~
Redwing Blackbirds would perch on cattails when I was
slopping through mud and grass tufts.
Robins would hop along stone walls... knowing I would leave
some of the wild black caps for them!
Mud Swallows would swoop and dive at me while I was mowing.
Eating bugs or not.. they were very intimidating!
Eastern Bluebirds would perch on weathered fence posts...
their feathers, brilliant blue as the summer sky.
The electric red & orange plumage of Tanagers and Orioles
would take my breath away~ they were rare and prompted a pause.

Companions still today and always finding their way into my illustrations~

Took similar starry night walks with our children~
They're in their 20's now... I still pull them outside
when the moon is just so.

Wishing your heart the sweetest memories~

Fabric samples & their originals...

My original watercolor next to the matching patterns~

The fabric samples from Red Rooster Fabrics arrived!
The portfolio with the program was fantastic to receive...
To hold the gorgeous quality fabric~
Joy!!!

My original butterflies... and the fabric they designed!

My stamp originals...

My flying feathered friend original...

Started drawing on postcard backs almost 30 years ago!
Who knew I would be painting on them?

Who knew the fabric would be this stunning?!
Red Rooster, did.

I love receiving samples of my work!
For all the nights I'm in my studio until 2am...
Working on fast deadlines...
Holding the finished piece is the best payment!

We had beautiful butterflies this summer!
Not sure if it was the summer heat or that I spot watered
my flowers through the drought?
Delicate garden friends that I will research and paint when snow flies and
I need a reminder of the warmth~

Hope your week is off to a fantastic start!
Thank you for sharing my journey~

Michelle Palmer Fabric!

Look what arrived in the mail today!
A gorgeous portfolio with my NEW fabric line!!!
Postcard Garden
Red Rooster Fabrics
I've been waiting to share the GREAT news...
Red Rooster Fabrics has done an AMAZING job with my art!

I started collecting postcards when I was a teen~
My very first trip away from home...
First travels outside of New York State with my sister & her family.

With every gas fill-up I would look for post cards of that state~
I would draw sites, flowers, bug etc. & keep notes on the back of them.
As a college student I began collecting antique & vintage cards.

Postage stamps were my very first art collection.
I have always viewed them as mini masterpieces~
They go hand in hand.

Kathy Brown introduced me & my art to Red Rooster Fabrics.
Kathy is a fabric designer & so much more!

Such beautiful quality!
Soft...
Beautiful colors...

Another collection is coming this fall...

I'll share the news about that collection soon!

I love to paint my favorite things~
When amazing companies use my art to design such quality products...
My grateful heart just wants to paint more & more!

Update: A sweet friend asked where you can purchase my fabric...
Red Rooster Fabrics has a link Type in your state and it will
list the stores that carry Red Rooster Fabrics in your area~
I think it will be available in October...
Call the location nearest you and ask if they'll have
Postcard Garden by Michelle Palmer
(I just have goosebumps thinking about it!)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Sweet Friends!

Original Sketches on Fabric...

When the cold winds blow...
Snow is measured in feet, not inches...
Walking in narrow paths, only to walk the pup...

I craft. I shovel. I craft.

These are original sketches on fabric!
I love flipping through my mounds of sketch diaries...
Finding sweet little images to share~

Each one unique... one of a kind... and for sale!
I'm listing all of these and more...
Please check out my etsy shop!

They come in little packages...

With ENDLESS possibilities!
Stitch n' sew...

Tack them up!
Glue 'em... decoupage them!

Tuck them here or there...

Some are listed as singles...
Others in themed collections!

A few of them even come with Moleskine journals!

I shared buttons with a few...
Feathers with others...

These are from my heart...

Different ideas I doodle... put in designs...

Some have been painted into full size
watercolor illustrations & licensed on cards etc.

Hope your day is filled with creative moments...
Even if the snow is stilllllll falling!

Artist Samples...

A few weeks ago I received a box filled with
T-SHIRT artist samples!

These are a few of the designs...
The company chose six of my originals.
I'm not sure where they are sold...
Samples typically come on white!

The Chickadee is one of my favorites!

I will be listing these on Etsy later today...
I have a very limited supply~
Two or three of each design!

I love being able to share samples with all of you!

Hope your Friday is FANTASTIC!

Craft Boxes Unleashed...

It's a Michelle Palmer snowman...

These are artist samples I received a few
years back from one of our manufacturers.
Our design was on a few different products...
but never became all that popular.

The design would have been more successful
had I surrounded my snow fella with
snowflakes instead of fall leaves!
After all... who builds a snowman when
leaves are still on the ground?

We do!
Expecting lake effect snow showers...
And we are still raking leaves...
Several of our trees haven't gotten the word
that it is "fall" and they need to drop!

Throughout the year I find Christmas
craft materials and toss them in one of
the boxes... and quickly forget what treasures
I have found until late Sept. early Oct.~

As I look through at some of the "stuff"
I try to remember why I bought it...
What cool craft/gift idea I may have had?
I think this summer I will add a
quick sketch & a few notes with the treasures...
My creative memory needs a little jump start!

Hope your day is sunny & sweet!

Getting Festive...

I love when I am caught up on deadline work...
Because I can PLAY!
Most of my successful designs are painted for fun!

Before I began working in licensing I had an annual
Christmas open house in our home
around mid November.
All of the items for sale were hand made,
framed original watercolors or prints
from my original watercolors.
I miss those shows; the fun! the people! the artists!

Odd artsy fact...
I could listen to Christmas music year 'round.
Helps the ideas flow~

I still plan Christmas open houses...
Instead of opening the doors to our home
our Etsy shop will have some
fun Christmas originals
Beginning November 1st!

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Peacock Fabric Samples to Share...

I received samples from my
peacock fabric program!

These are some snippets from the
original art to show where the
planning & designing begins.

This is a paste up of how I thought one
pattern might look...

Another paste up...

The ad in the latest JoAnn's flyer!!!

Our peacock samples!

The little face peeking through...

Coordinates...

Coordinates...

We had the best time going to the zoo and taking
pictures of the peacocks for reference material!
They seem to be camera shy like most birds...
But were tolerant enough to not take to the back corners.

Hope your Monday is perfect!
