Antique and vintage linen treasures

 Winter whites warm my heart~
With some warmer days I started adding some forget me nots and hearts!

I know the winter winds will continue to bring storms and frigid temperatures~
For now we will enjoy a few warm moments & the whisper of Spring.

Hearts so tender~
I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful season!

This rooster piece became mixed in...
It was the perfect excuse to sketch a nesting hen!

It smells like forget me not weather~
I couldn't help but add a wreath of love!

Wishing you a joy-filled Holiday Season~
Praying that family and friends arrive safe and sound!
May wonderful new memories be written on your hearts~

Stand up for yourself~

There are times when we have to stand up for ourselves.
Take legal steps to protect what we have worked so hard for.
It isn't easy.

This little guy and his message were written on my heart today~
Let your faith be bigger than your fear.
Hebrews 13:6

Wishing your heart peace, Friends~

Vintage linens

This is one of those linens~
I had ten different ideas for how to illustrate the empty areas!

Perhaps there was a bowl of fruit originally kept in the center area...

A pair of candle sticks... one to either side?

~ or ~
Vases?

I love white on white~

No matter what condition they are in~
A soak brings out their beauty!
Wear areas are proof that they were loved and treasured.

In all the years I have been gathering linens...
I have never found two alike.
Just like snowflakes~

Thank you for stopping by, Sweet Friends!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend~

Flow blue needle minder

Hello, Friends!
I hope your October is off to a great start!

It is no secret that I love flow blue...
Red Rooster Fabrics designed their Flow Blue Garden collection
from my original watercolor paintings!

I have been experimenting with printing my original watercolors
onto fabric... the image stays set~ I hope to make it brighter.

My needle minder is a bit on the large size... 5" x 7"
All hand stitched as I still do not know my way around
a sewing machine~
Added some vintage china buttons!
Perfectly reminders of treasured flow blue spice jars & plate chips!

Two antique lace treasures with blue & white pins~

It is always fun to add pen & ink illustrations to my projects...
Little character!
Pocket saved from one of the kids bluejeans!

Handmade... always from the heart!

Thank you for visiting here~
Wishing your heart every happiness!

Vintage linens~

I love to hunt for vintage/antique linens~
Antique shops & festivals...
Thrift stores & estate sales...
Lawn sales & auctions...

I immediately put the linens into a mild soak~
Little bit of laundry detergent & oxyclean... warm water.
Sometimes I need to repeat this soak.

Most stains come out over night...
A cold water rinse and gentle squeeze~
I lay them on bath towels and roll them up!

Once they rest for a day I press them, medium heat.

Amazing how vibrant the colors are!

Some are worn... they are just as beautiful as the nearly perfect pieces!

The beautiful stitches~
Time spent...
Treasured.

So many different designs!

Most linen pieces do not have a pattern.
Unique, free hand designs!
From the heart~

I hope you have a wonderful week, Sweet Friends!
Thank you for stopping by~

Crow with the button jar!

I have misplaced a jar of tiny buttons.
They are in this studio somewhere~

If you happen to see a crow flying by with my button jar...

Hope your day is filled with creative, Sweet Friends!

Vintage Linens...

I was in an antique shop along the Erie Canal & found a little flower linen.
It was crinkled up and browned...
There was a 2nd one!!!!
(My little prayer was for just one more... just one more!)

As I searched the entire booth, under every blanket~
Between every table cloth and linen!
There were five!

With arms filled with various vintage treasures,
my heart skipped a beat over these!

After their gentle soak in mild laundry detergent & a dash of Oxy Clean
they were even more beautiful!

As I was pressing them the ideas were swirling in my mind!!
Should I draw top views of frogs on them (lily pads?)
Should I draw five different flowers with their botanical names?
Should I draw butterflies on them?
Should I pattern them?

Some of my favorite quotes & fuzzy bees kept coming to my heart!

These are on their way home to Nevada!
A dear heart who LOVES BEES will give them the love they deserve~

Hope your September has been off to a great start!

Vintage linens & thank you~

The beauty of vintage linens~
They can be torn, tattered... stained... worn with love...
and STILL be gorgeous!

I find them in antique shops... thrift shops...
Sad to see mounds of yellowing history just sitting.
I bring them home, share a tubby with them & add one of my
original pen & ink illustrations!

Made new again~

Don't chubby little cheeks make you smile?

These little prince & princesses are in my Etsy shop~
They remind me of Valentines!

Thank you for your friendship, support, encouragement and comments
to my previous post~ I responded below all of your notes.
Far too many of us deal with theft & infringement~
I'm so thankful we don't let them stop us!
They will eventually be stopped.

Praying all of you are safe through this very powerful storm!
Hope the ice melts soon~
Please be safe, Dear Friends!

Antique & Vintage Linens

While Alaina and hubby were watching a suspense-filled movie
the other night... I was trying to busy myself!

Chipper little friends to distract me from the dramatic music!
I get them back... I blurt out, "Something's going to jump out!!!"
At the most tense moments~

I like to peek every now & then~ for all the good stuff!
Costumes, settings, furniture...

More of the antique/vintage linens I had washed, pressed & put away~
I mean, lost!

Mice in the strawberry fields...
Birds with just the right hats...
Bunnies with frilly collars!

Teddy loves~
A bride and groom...

These little friends and more are in my Etsy shop~

Thank you for your sweet comments and stopping by!
Sweet Dreams~
