En Plein Air Forget Me Nots...

En Plein Air   "...in the open air"

Sketching...
Painting...
Studying...

Time in my garden with the little blue blossoms that capture hearts~

Chickadees were wondering what I was up to...
The little blossoms perfect size for them to tuck under a wing~
Decorate their nests!
Alaina will have some of these in her Etsy store~
Just in case you would like one to decorate your nest!

Generations of artists have painted the little blues~
Vintage postcards and Valentines...
Trade cards...
Calling cards...

They're so beautiful near a stream~
Meandering, weaving...
Reminding us to "Forget Me Not..."

Hope your day is sunny and sweet~

Forget Me Not...

Tiny...
Simple...
Beautiful...

Forget Me Nots

Bunches in pitchers...
Sprigs in little glasses...

Pressed in journals...

I did leave some outdoors for the birds to enjoy~

Life is a bowl of...
of...
Forget Me Nots!

The perfect blue!
Just like the sunny sky above~

Hope your day is wonderful...

New Original Watercolors...

Soggy & cold in the garden...
Warm & toasty in the studio...

We took clothing hampers, garbage pails, laundry baskets
to the flower beds... and covered, weighted, tucked in babies!

Some of the Narcissus that I planted last fall~
My "breast cancer pink" daffodils in memory of mom~
Didn't fit!
So six of them came inside with us...

They are so delighted to be indoors~
Their fragrance called to me!
Paint me!
Paint me!

So I did...
They're available for purchase in Alaina's Etsy store
Thank you for all of your purchases!
It is so very exciting to share originals again~

They were bright pink outside...
They have turned a very soft salmon~
Perhaps pale from the kitty cats stalking the water in their vase...

They're so tall! Robust!

The softer color...

The storm is passing~ we're thankful it was not as destructive
as expected (in our area). A few Lilac limbs have bent over...
Perhaps the blossoms will survive and then I will prune them fresh.

I didn't save the packages when I planted these beauties...
We call them "Marie"~
When I discover their name in one of my journals, I'll share it!

"The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose"

Birds of a Feather...

We have snow storm warnings...
The birds were busy at the feeders all day~

Feathers were flying...
Wind gusts tossing them about as they perch and re-balance~

I  fill in little books to keep track of our feathered visitors
from year to year... they sit pretty while I sketch their little faces~
Each year we add new suet flavors and seeds to attract new friends!

When I gather feathers I put them in a sealed plastic bag...

Just to make sure little bugs don't remain~

I love watching wee ones fly with nesting supplies...

Today they were being tossed about... swaying on limbs...

This little friend has a smile~
A chipper flight above the beautiful springtime blossoms!
...
Some neighboring areas are bracing for 18"+ of heavy wet snow~
Praying all stay safe in the storm path!

Hope you have a wonderful week, Sweet Friends~

Memory Garden...

Forget Me Not...
They're in the studio~ dressed in pink, white and blue!

Tomorrow will mark thirty years that my dad passed away.
I was twelve years old... didn't know much about cancer then.
I dug clumps of Forget Me Nots growing wild in a nearby field
to plant at the cemetery. They never grew back~
I keep them in all of my gardens...
They're a sweet reminder... each April...

When mom passed in October one of her memorial arrangements
were filled with sherbet rose colored Carnations and white Hydrangeas.
My cousin, a florist, shared with me how to plant the sprigs
of Hydrangeas ~ so to start plants. We had a mild winter... dry.
With the warm temperatures I've been very patient...
Knowing we could still have frosty, snowy days through April.

Over the weekend~ Hubby helped me remove the winter
leaf pack and reveal the babies...
There are three with buds!
Joy!
I have two sisters... I was just praying for three to live!
They will be a beautiful reminder of mom~

I planted these along side the Hydrangea babies...
In hopes that something would make it through the winter!
Mom loved to plant bulbs...
Loved Iris...
Loved Peonies...
I can't bring myself to love Roses as she did~ they're fussy.
I'm not patient with them or their thorns (giggle)

When these pretties first open they're a butter yellow...
Turning to a rich, deep yellow~
Then to the soft pink!

This plant has two blossoms~
I keep every memory of my parents close...
I thank God for the beautiful family I have been given~
We keep old memories near while making new ones daily!

Hope your days are filled with wonderful memories~
Old and new!

Original watercolors now available~

Watercolor is my career and hobby~
My gardens make my heart smile!

Some people delve into a book to relax~
I paint!

I never know when one of my images will find their way to
a special decorative product...
The most exciting part of licensing!

I'm excited that my originals are available for purchase again~
We sold paintings through art festivals and private shows
for almost ten years.

Perhaps your first piece...
A gift for a wedding, anniversary... birthday~
They're all one of a kind.
The subjects~ pretties from my garden.
Each season holds the sweetest of subjects~

Our daughter is listing these little treasures for me...
I like to paint and Alaina needs an income!
The perfect match!
Please visit her Etsy store

Thank you, Sweet Friends!

New Linens & Watercolor Originals...

I hope your weekend was filled with wonderful memories
and sweet, sweet blessings...

We took a family road trip on Saturday...
Traveled along NYS Rt. 5 & 20 to enjoy the pretty day,
share some laughs during lunch and shop local antique/gift shops!

I found wonderful little linens...
Old linens...
Large linens...
Worn & tattered linens...

Armfuls called to go home with us...
We gathered a nice collection of different styles~
All selected with one thing in mind...
Adding a pen and ink to its existing beauty~
For you!

I enjoy pieces that can be framed or tacked to a bulletin board...
Made into pillows or stitched into a quilted treasure~

Monogrammed linens were everywhere!
Everyone was purchasing them~
This little one was sandwiched between a stack of dish towels...

Spring birds at our feeder get their voices up when the crows visit!
I open the window and demand they visit the corn field instead~
Songbirds fall back into place...

It's almost time to see the baby ducks trailing along behind Momma...

I've painted these yummy Pansies to add to my
Original watercolors that will be for sale~
Our girl is almost ready to begin listing them in her Etsy store!
Today, I hope!
I'll post when they're ready to go~ with a link.

I'm planning to paint watercolors of what is in our garden~
Season by season... a fun way to share!
Alaina is excited to have a part-time job listing & mailing these..
Her college journey begins this fall~
She is commuting for the first two years~
Trying to save money and keep her loans small.

We're grateful to live near wonderful colleges.
Thankful she doesn't feel the need to travel far...
At least for a little while~

I hope your day is off to a wonderful start!
